The next page contains the table of consonants and vowels , linsting the romanized Roman Alphabe letters, as well as a quide to its pronunciation.
We are using the 'Revised Romanization of Korean' with a few modifications on the consonants ' ,ㄱ, ㄲ, ㄸ, ㅃ ' for better understanding of their actual pronunciation.
Please note that the pronunciation of the individual romanized letters is quite different from how one would pronounce it in English.
For example, the letter ' i ' is pronounced in English as 'eye' , but in the case of the romanized character it is pronounced as the ' i ' in ' ink' .
Korean word ' 이 ' [ i ] has three meanings : a faily name, the word for tooth, and the numer 2.
Can you guess which famil name it is ?
Yes , It is 'Lee' or 'Rhee' , the ' L ' or ' R " remain for historical reasons of how the Chinese character for the name was originally pronounced.
The other two meanings are the number 2 and the word for tooth.
It is interesting that in several languages the word for number 2 and tooth are very similar, such as in English German , French, Sapnish.
Coincidence or not ? Maybe a coincidence, as in Chinese or Japanese, this relationship does not hold.
