The consonant ' ㄷ' is pronounced as ' d' at the beginning, and as ' t' at the end of a character.
'ㅂ' sounds like 'b' at the beginning, and as 'p' at the end, while ' ㅈ ' is pronounced as ' j' if it is at the beginning and as 't' at the end.
The ending ' t' is pronounced very seakly and without aspiration, so it is barely audible.
ㄷ
desk [d ] 다리 [da-ri] : leg, bridge
cat [t ] 받침 [bat-chim] : prop
You may have noticed that several consonants we have seen so far sound like ' t' if they are at the end of a characer, namely; ' ㅅ, ㄷ, ㅈ ' .
It turns out that there are only 7 different final consonant sounds, which we will discuss in detail after we introduce all the consonants.
The last consonant we study in this section is ' ㄹ ' , which is pronounced as ' r' in 'ring', however, with a slight rolling ' r' sound.
When at the end, however, it is pronounced as ' l ' .
This consonant may explain the frequent confusion between ' r' and ' l' by some Koreans
In any case, as we will see soon, the pronunciation of ' ㄹ ' creates some interesting challenges.
