The second consonat is ' ㄴ' calle [ni-eun] '니은 '.
Fortunately, the consonant ' ㄴ' is easy;
it is simply pronounced as 'n' in English, whether it is positioned in the beginning or end of a character.
ㄴ
nose [ n ]
노래 [ no-rae ] : song
돈 [ don ] : money
The consonant ' ㅁ ' is easy as well. It is pronounced as 'm' , as we learned in the previous chapter.
ㅁ
moon [ m ]
머리 [meo-ri] head
남자 [nam-ja] : male
The consonant ' ㅅ ' is again interesting, because it is pronounced as a sharp ' s' it it is in the beginning of a character, and as a 't' if it is ate the end.
Before the vowels' 이, 야 , 여, 요 , 유' it is pronounced as 'sh' though. We will soon learn these vowels.
Also as we will see later, this character exhibits some ohter interesting pronunciation issues depending on the surround consonants and vowels, which will keep us on our toes for some time.
But for now, we'll keep thins simple by considering pronunciation of a single character by itself.
